They even did this for Mars, was neat seeing all of mars and zooming in

Well, the company that keyhole used as its source is no longer the same source used now. Previous customers of keyhole can access the older database (slightly less features, but more accurate pictures) by using the 'legacy' database.

Hmm. I'll have to download this and see how it compares with World Wind.

Actually, it looks like it won't let me download it. "Thanks for your interest in Google Earth, but we're sorry we can't offer you a download right now."

Some of the maps are a little spotty ... especially if you're outside of the States ... I can actually pick out landmarks and recognize that they haven't been there for a couple of years ...

How often does Google update these maps? Anyone know?

not sure how often google will update the maps, it cant be much i mea thats ALOT of pics there.

When Keyhole was the owner they partnered with nVidia and had an nvidia edition...(same program but had the nvidia logo and was cheaper to get) this was cool cause u can see the cool nvidia home office!

since google owns this now i know it will only get better.

fun finds
from the old servers were Disney World, NASA in florida, u could see the shuttle on the ground and actually saw ppl very close near the shuttle! hmmm, a bowing plane i forget but it is in flight over california...Area 51!!! odly the resolution is not very good there though! LMAO!!!

u can spend tons of time with this app. hmmm others are Ground Zero WTC site.

I loved seeing the UK, France, Italy, Australia since i prolly will never visit them

OH my fave is when you tell ppl what the app does and they say..."you mean i can wave to you and you can see me!" LOL if only i could have control over real-time satillite images
